Obituary

MONONA - Suzanne C. Kain, 88, of Monona, beloved by all who knew her, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022.

Born on Jan. 10, 1934, in Geneva, Ill., to Ron Sale and Doris (Johnson), Suzie attended high school in Fond du Lac, Wis., and was later united in marriage there to Carroll “Sugar” Kain on July 15, 1961. There was no greater love than the one they shared throughout their years together. In addition to her role as wife, mother and grandmother, Sue worked outside the home as a clerk at Birk’s Pharmacy for 9 years, where she encountered many members of the Monona community and was much loved by coworkers and customers alike.

Suzie was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the St. Anne’s group. Her Catholic faith was strong, and she said novenas daily. She adored her family and loved everyone that had the luck to cross her path. That love was returned by all who knew her. With her outgoing, warm and fun personality, and terrific sense of humor, she made immediate friends of everyone she met - and her zest for life was infectious! In her later years, she developed a flair for dressing in sparkles and fun prints and loved being treated like a queen - all she needed was a tiara to complete the outfits!

In addition to a busy social life spent with many friends, she enjoyed an active life of swimming, sewing and knitting groups, dining out and rooting for the Packers/Badgers on game days, as well as playing cards at the Monona Senior Center. At home she enjoyed reading, but favorite pastime was time spent with her granddaughters. Her granddaughters were the love of her life.

Suzie is survived by her daughter, Kandy (Robbie) Norman; son, Jeff (Connie); granddaughters, Sarah Roberts (and her mother Nan), Chloe Norman, Anna and Diana Kain and Gabriela Sweeney; and sister, Mary “Mitzi” (Steve) Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, “Suggie;” daughter, Stacey Sweeney; brother, Tom Faris; and her parents, Doris Kuter and Ronald Sale.

She loved her Brandy Old Fashioneds, so we ask you all to drink a toast to Suzie, remembering all the good times with her and the joy she brought into our lives. Although she wasn’t ready to leave us and we were not ready to say goodbye, we celebrate her reunion with those she loved who went before.

Suzie’s family would like to thank the many friends for their care and support these past six weeks and a special thanks to LeAnn, Julie, Sue, Shela and Jennifer.

Suzie, we love you up to the sky forever!

A light has gone out in the universe. Sue was truly a woman with a zest for life! I met Sue years ago when I worked with her daughter Stacey. She would come in to get her hair done and “ make the rounds “, saying hello to everyone. She made everyone she met feel special and always had a smile on her face, she just loved life! My sympathies to her entire family and close friends…..wishing wonderful memories to to give you strength during this difficult time.

You and Shug were the best neighbors! Your smile and energy was so refreshing. You used to come over after we would have a party and tell us we reminded you of your younger years. You made living on LaBelle fantastic. Heaven gained an angel.

Family of Sue Kain. I am so sorry to see our dear friend has passed away. Will miss our casual meetings on the bus as we rode to various activities in Monona. We met yrs. ago when I took care of her granddaughter. What a pleasure that was for me. My sincere sympathy in this time of loss. She is in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless, Alice Copper
