Sylvia R. Johnson

MADISON-Sylvia R. Johnson, age 80, of Madison, made her final journey home to God with her family by her side on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Oct. 25, 1937, in Portage, the daughter of Alma (Haavisto) and Marvin Roberts.  She married Melvin Johnson on April 12, 1957. Sylvia is survived by her husband of sixty years, Melvin; her children, Joan (Al) Boyce, Paul (Sandy) Johnson, Steve Johnson (Kelly Brown) and Lisa (Brian) Nienhaus; and sister, Caryl (Bob) Regez.  She cherished her grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Jessica Brown, Jenny Boyce (Dan Hildebrant), Pierce Nienhaus, Jill Nienhaus, Nathaniel Heath, Aaron Heath and Jeremey Brown; and her great-grandchildren, Owen, McKenna and Kynlee.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Marvin Roberts Jr. A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held at LAKE EDGE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4032 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, with the Rev. Stephen Marsh and the Rev. Katya Ouchakof presiding.  A luncheon will follow the service. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Private entombment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lake Edge Lutheran Church or Agrace HospiceCare.  The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff (angels) at Agrace HospiceCare.  Sylvia requested that we remind people that this is her celebration of life, and to please feel free to wear bright colors.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
