Lucy Jenkins

MADISON - Lucy Jenkins, age 62, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly due to an accident on Monday, June 30, 2025. She was born on July 10, 1962, in Madison, the daughter of Donald and Mary Ellen (McTier) Jenkins. She lived in England for six years, otherwise always in the Madison area. She graduated from Madison East High School in 1980. She attended Madison Area Technical College for her veterinary technician certification. She worked for many years at the UW Vet School. In the past several years, she worked in the oncology area for Veterinary Acute Care Services in Middleton.

Lucy was a world traveler, master gardener, someone who loved animals deeply, and a life-long learner of crafts, flowers, animals, music, cultures, and dancing. She lived life to the fullest and was very active in biking, hiking, and exploring nature. She loved her family and doing all she could with them. Her fierce personality, attention to details, strong work ethic, and drive to help wherever she could with animals, people, and causes will be greatly missed.

Lucy is survived by the light of her world, her son Christopher (Alex); his father, Guy; sister, Sharon (Mike); brother, Russ, sister, Dona (Gary); nieces and nephews, Nathaniel (Erika), Cara, Jeret (Maria), Ryan, Erin (Matt), Elyse (Tyler) and Emily (Josh). She has grand-nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own grandchildren, Bohdi, Bennett, Connor, Warren, Oliver, Callum, Barrett, Arya Joy, Dashiell and Savanna. She is further survived by Aunt Alice Ann and Aunt Ann, and many cousins.

In her passing, Lucy donated her organs exemplifying her generosity and drive to help others. The family wants to express our deep and sincere gratitude to the UW Hospital ER, trauma teams, ICU that cared for Lucy, as well as the UW Organ and Tissue donation team. Their patience and knowledge helped us through a very difficult time to honor all of Lucy’s wishes.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday July 10, 2025, with the Rev. Scott Marrese-Wheeler presiding. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
 

In lieu of flowers, Lucy specifically noted her desire that any donations be made to Dane County Humane Society, Olbrich Botanical Gardens, or Henry Vilas Zoo so people can share the enjoyment of her memory in the places she most enjoyed. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
