James Patrick Horan

COTTAGE GROVE - James P. Horan, age 65, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital from Covid related pneumonia. He was born on Nov. 7, 1955, in Beloit, Wis., the son of James E. Horan and Dorothy A. (Dalton) Horan. James was a graduate of Madison East High School. Jim worked at Rock-Tenn as a metal edger for 25 years. Prior to retirement, James worked as a Superintendent/Treasurer for Universal Roofing Co., Inc. with his brother, Steve. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, going to the stock car races, snowmobiling, and enjoyed spending time at the casinos. He loved going out and meeting people wherever he went. Jim enjoyed going to his family celebrations and held his family very close to him. He loved working with his brother, Steve, for over 20 years. Jim will be remembered as a kind-hearted, joyful person, and a very loyal friend. James is survived by his sons, Daniel J. (Lael) Horan and Michael J. Horan; mother, Dorothy Horan; brother, Steve Horan; nephew, Ross Horan; and his significant other, Linda Gladem; grandchildren, Sasha Horan, Melody Horan, Isaiah Horan, Gabriella Horan, Isabella Horan, Chloe Horan, Parker Horan, and Aiden Horan. He is also survived by his Aunt Darline and Uncle Wayne Olson, and cousins with whom he truly loved spending his summers. He spent many good times with his Olson cousins, Dalton and Burns. He enjoyed many good times with the family of Shirley and Mert Johnson and his cousins, Ann, Tim, Gina and Lisa. He was especially close to Jeff Gladem and his children, Cammie and Kelsey and their children. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Horan. Jim will be forever remembered and forever loved, until we all meet again. A PRIVATE graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona.
