Obituary

MADISON - Roberta “Bobbie” Mae Jackson, age 82, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on June 19, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Richard and Regina (Koller) Hendrickx.


She was united in marriage to Doyne E. Jackson, Jr., on November 26, 1958, in Chicago, Ill.  Roberta worked as an assistant bookkeeper and cashier for Don's Finest Foods for over 20 years.  


Roberta was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary’s Care Center delivering mail and working in their gift shop. Roberta was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to country music. She liked playing Bingo and being the Bingo caller and enjoyed playing casino style games on her computer.  


Roberta is survived by daughter, JoAnn (Ken) LeClair; son, Rick (Laura) Jackson; four grandsons, Christopher Jackson, Zach Jackson, Shawn LeClair, and Chris LeClair; and one great-grandson, Sam Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyne; parents, Richard and Regina; son, Donald Jackson; and sister, Rita Hendrickx.


A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

From: Sandy and Phil Breneman: JoAnn and Rick....Sorry for your loss. There were many wonderful memories with the Jackson family. My Aunt Roberta, 2nd mom will truly be remembered. Good memories when I was a teenager/young adult, additional memories as adults (seniors). My husband Phil and I visited her and JoAnn in the different homes from Chicago every Spring and Fall. Aunt Roberta and I attended the service at St. Mary's Care, it was special as the Priest was promoted to a Bishop and he wished everyone a happy and well life. Aunt Roberta didn't have caller ID on her phone, when I called, I said: "Hi Aunt Roberta" and she said "Hi Sandy" ...I asked her how she knew it was me. Reply: "You're the only one that calls me Aunt Roberta." Her wit and memory never failed her. Rest in Peace, you'll be missed.
