Joan Mildred Hoffman

FITCHBURG-Joan Mildred Hoffman, age 86, of Fitchburg, passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on April 14, 1930, the daughter of William and Hazel (Umenhofer) Mayhercy in Chicago, Ill. Joan married Glenn Hoffman in 1948 in Chicago. She was a homemaker and absolutely adored her family and hosting celebrations in her home. Joan was a life-long member of the American Turners of Chicago and was active in KAYRA, a support group for individuals who have lost a spouse. She enjoyed Scrabble, exercise class and being a member of Illinois Turner Camp which was a big part of her family's life. Her favorite singer was Jimmie Rodgers and she was proud to be the president of his fan club. Joan is survived by her children, Bruce, Alice, Janice, Joyce, Nancy and Chris; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Per Joan's wishes no funeral services will be held. Burial will be November 18, 2016 at Forest Hill Cemetery, at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance, Madison Chapter or the charity of the donor's choice.
