Obituary

MADISON - Betty Joyce Hinrichs, age 97, of Monona, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Stoughton Meadows. She was born on May 3, 1928, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Willard Larson and Bertha (Ramsfield) Larson.


Betty graduated from Madison East High School and married Robert Hinrichs on September 12, 1950, in Madison, Wis. Betty worked as a clerical professional for the State of Wisconsin for many years.


Family was very important to Betty as they were the center of her life. She loved traveling with her husband and cherished the tradition of attending Concerts on the Square with her sister, Jean, for 24 consecutive years. Betty also enjoyed collecting unique dolls and had an impressive collection.


Betty is survived by her son, Greg (Mary) Hinrichs; brother, Don (Marlene) Larson; brother-in-law, Chris Ramos; granddaughter, Jennifer (Nic) Jelinski; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln Jelinski and Emmett Jelinski. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Bertha; husband, Robert; sister, Jean Ramos; and brother, Wayne (Marilyn) Larson.


A celebration of life will be held at Greg and Mary’s residence from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

I loved sitting with Betty at all 4th of July picnics - and other extended family gatherings. She shared many stories and recipes, she listened and encouraged and we laughed. I enjoyed her company. Rest in peace dear Betty.

There is so much I could say about Betty. I only knew Betty a short couple years. Within those year I felt I knew her for many years. Betty was one of the sweetest ladies I’ve even known. I loved Betty like she was a second grandma. I miss her dearly, I am very thankful and blessed for having the chance on meet such a wonderful lady. Betty boop Destiny and I love you.
