Maxine Hermanson

MADISON - Maxine Mae Hermanson, age 100, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Aug. 14, 1923, in Madison, the daughter of Lewis and Doretta (Holzworth) Zerbel.

Maxine graduated from Madison West High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Everett Hermanson on Aug. 26, 1944, in Madison. She was a lifelong member of Luther Memorial Church.

Maxine loved to sew. We all enjoyed the pajamas she made us over the years. She loved watching the birds in the feeder, but especially loved Cardinals. Maxine had a sharp wit and a wonderful sense of humor. She was always positive and had a great smile.

Maxine is survived by her daughters, JoAnn (Michael) Bradley and Judith Richters; son, Glen (Cheryl) Hermanson; granddaughters, Bette Jo (Doug Parks) Bradley and Tari (Ranjiv) Advani; grandsons, Wayne (Denise) Bradley, Kevin (Leah) Hermanson, Eric (Carey) Hermanson, Karl (Nadia Khan) Richters, Grant Richters and Paul (Kory Olson) Richters; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Allen Zerbel; and sister-in-law, Ann Zerbel and Thelma Bergum Hurd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Doretta; husband, Everett; sister, Dorothy Heidner; brothers, Roland Zerbel and Harold Zerbel; and son-in-law, David Richters.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
