Gordon L."Gordy" Hanson

Madison - Gordon L. “Gordy” Hanson, age 89, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on June 20, 1932, in Madison, Wis., the son of Helmer B. Hanson and Edna A. (Holbach) Hanson.

A lifetime Madison resident, Gordy graduated from East High School in 1950.  He married Patricia (Pyne) Hanson on Oct.  6, 1951, in Madison. Prior to his retirement in 1994, Gordy worked at Webcrafters for over 39 years.

In his free time, Gordy enjoyed playing golf. He was an avid sportsman and a huge fan of the Badgers and Packers. Most of all, Gordy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Gordon is survived by his daughter, Sue (Nathan) Ringgenberg; sons, James (Patti) Hanson, Steve (Cheryl) Hanson and David (Holly Good) Hanson; six grandchildren, Rebekah (Andrew) Johnson, Emily (Chad) Kurschner, Eric (Abby Vermilyea) Ringgenberg, Paula (BJ) Bonner, Andrew Hanson and Carly Hanson; 10 great-grandchildren; a loving and caring companion, Ginny Barlup and her family; a sister-in-law, Jo Hanson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; parents; infant sister, Gloria; brothers, Lester (Bernette), Donald (Lorraine), Roland (June) and Gene; his sister, Jan (Don) Michaelis; and brother-in-law, Jim (Mae) Pyne.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, with the Rev. Andrew Johnson presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. A luncheon will be held at the EASTSIDE CLUB, 3735 Monona Drive, Madison, following the service.
