Obituary
MADISON - Gertrude M. Hall, age 104, of Madison, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026. She was born on May 15, 1921, in Sylvan Township, Richland County, Wis., the daughter of Hugh and Mary (Brill) Morrison. She married William G. "Bill" Hall on September 22, 1951.
Gertrude was a longtime member of St. Dennis parish and lived her faith through service. She volunteered at church fish fries, beautified the altar with flower arrangements, and crocheted many prayer shawls. She also volunteered at Skaalen Home and was a control subject for UW Alzheimer’s Disease Research (ADRC). She worked at the family business doing clerical work and mailings, taking trays of mail to the post office daily. She retired at 83 years old, when she sold the business. She drove until she was 97 and loved to bake cookies and make peanut butter balls. She cherished time with her family and friends. Gertrude treated everyone as if they were family, and she was known as Ma Hall to many.
Gertrude is survived by her children, Mary (Greg) Ostrowsky, Barbara (Ken) Bowman, Kathy (Marty Agamaite) Hall, Valerie (Ray) Stimpson and William J. (Cheryl) Hall; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Hugh and Mary Morrison; grandson, Nathan Ostrowsky; brother, Leslie Morrison; and sister, Lucille Morrison Shaw.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at QUEEN OF APOSTLES PARISH, ST. DENNIS CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, with Father Michael Resop presiding. Luncheon to follow the Mass in Fellowship Hall. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday.
