Sending condolences to LaVerne's family. Daughter, Dawn, and I were best friends through grade school (Dudgeon School in Madison). I spent much time at the Haagensen home back then and can vividly picture it even now. At one point, when we were in 1st or 2nd grade, she found some felt hats with faces on the back and long yarn braids that hung down on either side. She brought home one for each of us that we liked to wear to school. They were so cute! (Dawn's had brown braids and mine had yellow.) LaVerne was also leader of our Girl Scout Brownie troop for 3 years, along with Mrs. Sweet. I haven't thought of those days for many years but, now looking back, they were very good times and I hold many fond memories of the Haagensen home and of LaVerne. God bless her family.
