MONONA - Marlene Barbara Groves, age 88, of Monona, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on October 24, 1936, in Monroe, the daughter of Edward and Hilda (Schlittler) Marty.
Marlene grew up on a farm in Monticello, WI, that she said was a wonderful place to grow up. She graduated from Monticello High School. Marlene was united in marriage to William Groves on February 12, 1959, in Wisconsin. She worked as a customer service supervisor for Phillips in Madison, WI, for 19 years, until joining Bill and her children at Wisconsin Copy.
Marlene enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, William. Ireland was her favorite destination. Together Marlene and William enjoyed spending time with a core group of friends who would get together weekly for outings.
Marlene is survived by her son, Michael (Terri) Groves; daughter, Cheri Groves; grandchildren, Wendy, Josh (Molly) and Jay; great-grandchildren, Lailynn, Agnes Rose, Mac Thomas and James; sisters, Susan Hefty and Karen (Terry) Wichser; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Groves; son, Steven; granddaughter, Shannon; and sister, Laurie Grossen.
