Obituary
MADISON-Janette Mabel "Jan" Grinde, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. She was born on Feb. 12, 1937, at the family farm, the daughter of Walter and Marcene (Boynton) Lueck. Jan graduated from Adams Friendship High School, class of 1954. She married Donald Grinde on Sept. 6, 1958, at Christ Lutheran Church in DeForest. Jan earned her LPN from MATC in 1957. She worked as an Activity Dept./Recreation Specialist for Karmenta, retiring after 24 years. Jan enjoyed gardening, knitting, quilting and spending time at the family tree farm. Jan and Don were long-time members at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Jan is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don; sons, Mark (Maria Lara) Grinde and Jeffrey (Amy) Grinde; grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr., Alyssa Grinde, Greg Desjarlais and Sara (Eric) Kruemnauer and Carolina, Emilio and Pamela Lara; sister, Marjorie (Lueck) Sleight; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Jr. (June 15, 1960- April 12, 1961); and brothers, Walter Jr., Frank and Donald Lueck. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Memorials may be made to St. Marks Food Pantry. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
