COTTAGE GROVE - Kenneth J. “Ken” Frederick, age 91, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1933, in Madison, the son of John and Frances (Clemens) Frederick.
Ken graduated from Edgewood High School in 1951. He served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1955. He married Annette (Dunker) Frederick on May 28, 1955. Ken worked as an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 159 for many years. He retired as part owner and electrical contractor from Electric Construction in 1997. He was a dedicated volunteer for many years helping to install the “Fantasy in Lights” at Olin Park.
Ken was a member of the Elks Club and the McFarland American Legion No. 534. He enjoyed spending time with the people he loved, especially wintering in Florida with Annette. Whether with Annette, family or friends, Ken loved his time on the golf course. His fondness for horses as a boy carried over to his daughters for many years.
Ken is survived by his five daughters, Sharon (Mike) Hein, Karen (Jerry) Sainsbury, Diane (Bill) Blaska, Linda (Scott) Smith and Mary (Dennis) Springer; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette; parents, John and Frances; and two brothers, Jack and Jerry.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
