Obituary
Cottage Grove - Annette M. Frederick, age 89, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her five daughters. She was born on Aug. 2, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Herman Dunker and Evelyn (Rohan) Dunker.
Annette graduated from Holy Angels Academy in 1951, and from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. She attended St. Mary’s Nursing School in Madison, where she met a handsome young U.S. Navy man, Ken Frederick, who would become her husband on May 28, 1955.
Annette retired from Wildwood Family Clinic in 1992. She spent many enjoyable years involved at St. Patrick Church, Cottage Grove, and at Cottage Grove and Lindbergh Elementary Schools. But the real joy in her life was her family, as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her and she meant the world to her family.
Annette is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ken Frederick; five daughters, Sharon (Mike) Hein, Karen (Jerry) Sainsbury, Diane (Bill) Blaska, Linda (Scott) Smith and Mary (Dennis) Springer; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dave (Jean) Dunker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Evelyn Dunker; brother, Bud Dunker; and sister, Elaine Mercado.
A celebration of Annette’s life will be held at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023. A private family burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
