MADISON - Natalie P. Frea, age 74, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Oakwood Village - Health and Rehabilitation Facility. She was born on February 10, 1951, in Madison, the daughter of John and Stephanie (Stellone) Abitante.
Natalie graduated from Central High School in 1969. She worked as a claims specialist for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Workforce Development, for 40 years, until her retirement on July 2, 2010.
Natalie was a die-hard Elvis fan, and she also enjoyed country music. She enjoyed spending time at Tricia's Country Corners and Off the Wagon Bar. Natalie also enjoyed playing the slots and going to bingo. She was generous with her family, loved decorating for Christmas and was always making deserts for family gatherings. She always had a positive attitude and a big heart.
Natalie had a very strong Italian heritage growing up in the Greenbush neighborhood, and she went to many activities at the Italian's Workman’s Club.
Natalie is survived by her sister, Joni (Gerald) Hoskins; brother-in-law, Charles Arnone, Jr.; nephew, Charles Arnone, III; nieces, Stephanie (David) Winkelman and Jillian Cousin; other nieces and nephews; and great nieces, Aryanna (Chad) Arnone-White and Brianna Winkelman. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marie Arnone; and brother, Nicholas Abitante.
A prayer service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. A Celebration of Natalie’s Life will be held at the MADISON EAGLES CLUB, 2109 Bartillon Drive, Madison, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family wishes to thank the staff of Oakwood Rehabilitation Center and Agrace HospiceCare for all of their wonderful care and support given to Natalie and her family.
