Bill Fleck

In fond memory of my Uncle Bill and his family.

I always enjoyed talking with Uncle Bill at the McKenzie Family Reunions. The conversations were always interesting and had humor evenly spersed throughout our discussions.

I worked with Bill for five years when I served as Director of Land Regulation and Records for Dane County, overseeing zoning, plat review and tax listing. Bill understood the purpose of regulation, to secure compliance rather than punishment, and always sought to implement public policy. He was a solid manager, gentleman, and I counted him as a friend. I regret I will be away and cannot attend visitation.

I, along with my sisters had the pleasure to know Mr. Fleck early in life. He would pick us up and take us, along with his children to St. Bernard's grade school. I remember getting into his van and he always had a smile on his face, and something nice to say. Mr. Fleck was a choir director for St Bernard's for many years, and my father ( Walter) thoroughly enjoyed singing with the choir. He always said that Bill made singing in the choir so enjoyable. Sometimes I would sit in the choir loft and admire how Mr. Fleck made the choir sound so good.during Mass. And again, Mr Fleck always had a smile.
