Dewey "Bill" William Edwards

MADISON-Dewey W. Edwards, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare.  He was born on Oct. 19, 1925, in Platteville, the son of Dr. Verne and Dr. Arlie (Stowell) Edwards.  He married the love of his life, Lois Burton, and they enjoyed 70 wonderful years together.  Dewey and his brothers all served in World War II.  He worked as an electrical engineer for the State of Wisconsin and was very active in RLDS as a pastor who ministered to many. Dewey was certified as a professional electrical engineer through the Wisconsin Registration Board of Architecture and Professional Engineers, and had the highest rank in the State of Wisconsin. He also worked for 18 years with the Port Edwards Paper Company, as well as served on the school board and village board of Port Edwards. He was a loving husband and a true family man.  Dewey enjoyed camping with his family, and his grandchildren still go to the same campground with their children. He was very active even into his eighties, and still enjoyed playing tennis.  Dewey is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Cynthia (Kirby) Harless; son, John (Helen) Edwards; sister, Barbara (Donald) Steinhoff; sister-in-law, Dolores Edwards; and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Conan, John and Verne Edwards Jr.; and sister-in-law, Marje Edwards.  Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
