Obituary

SUN PRAIRIE - Caryl R. Faust, age 94, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at home. She was born on April 20, 1931, on the family farm in Humbird, Wis., the daughter of Arnold and Rose (Heyroth) Theis.


Caryl married Kenneth Faust on September 12, 1953, and they were married for 71 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, rosemaling, gardening and canning. Caryl volunteered at voting polls for over 50 years. She was a faithful Catholic who loved and recited the rosary daily.


Caryl is survived by her husband, Kenneth Faust; children, Michael (Patricia) Faust, Barbara (Mike) Miller, Christina Hammond, Mark (Tracy) Faust and Thomas (Joanne) Faust; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Bernice Berthiaume.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Rose Theis; two sisters, Joanne and Elaine; and one brother, Norman.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at QUEEN OF APOSTLES PARISH, ST. DENNIS CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with Father Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Queen of Apostles Parish, St. Dennis Church.

She was such a loving supporter of her wonderful husband, Ken. She convinced him to sell his partnership interest to me so he could do more “Honey Do” things at home. Ken stayed on as a Superintended for many years.

I met Carol through an introduction by her daughter. This was back in 1973. From that day she was extremely welcoming, a very warm person. Soon I met the rest of the family and a year later she became my mother-in-law. We spent many days around the kitchen table, talking, playing Parcheesi especially with Tommy, and having dinner. We would spend many weekends at her house and went on some day trips together. Carol was a very good cook and did a lot of it. I’ve already missed Carol for over 20 years now, as I’m no longer part of the family. To the family, you have been very fortunate to spend so many wonderful years with her. God bless you all.
