Paul Harold Evans

MCFARLAND - Paul H. "Skip" Evans, age 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at the UW Hospital in Madison, with his family by his side. His battle with medical conditions in recent years showed his courage in the face of challenging circumstances.

Skip was born on Sept. 14, 1946, in Kittery, Maine, to Paul and Orris (Eberhardt) Evans. His father was in the U.S. Navy, so Skip along with his parents and his sister, Jill, moved from port to port.  The Evans family eventually settled in Middleton, Wis.

Skip continued the family tradition of service to his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserves and served one tour in Vietnam. Later, he worked at First Supply in Madison, until his retirement

At the young age of 15, Skip fell in love and married Connie (Wirth) Evans in 1967. Together they raised their two children, Scott and Kim. Skip enjoyed celebrating events and spending time with his loved ones. Skip’s family, grandchildren and other loved ones will remember his sense of humor and love of cars, in particular the Corvettes he drove over his lifetime. Skip was also very proud of making regular blood and plasma donations.

Later in life, while living in McFarland, Skip met and married his second wife, Sharon Shultz, and together they enjoyed collecting and shopping for antiques and keeping each other company during their early retirement years, until her passing.

Skip is survived by his children, Scott (Liz) Evans and Kim Johnson, both of Janesville; grandchildren, Alex  and Corina Evans and Joshua Johnson; sister, Jill Wilke of LaCrosse; and ex-wife and close friend, Connie Evans.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and second wife, Sharon.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Paul’s name to Wounded Warrior Project (support.woundedwarriorproject.org/) or Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin (alzwisc.org/).
