Alice Dodge

MADISON–Alice T. Dodge, age 102, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Oak Park Place.  She was born on Dec. 28, 1914, in Madison, the daughter of Fern and Anna (Fadness) Dye.  Alice married James S. Dodge in Madison.  Alice was a clerk at S.S. Kresege Five and Dime on the square for many years.  She always was sure to “bedeck” herself with the baubles and bangles she collected from her years of service at the jewelry counter.  For years, Alice and her husband, Jim, could be seen selling caramel corn and cotton candy at Badger games and local county fairs.  Alice loved people.  She loved to be with people, visiting and socializing.  Alice, Jim and son, William enjoyed many car vacations throughout the country, including trips to the Northern Wisconsin Family Resort.  On Alice’s 102 birthday, she was recognized as a 58 year member of the Women of the Moose.  Alice is survived by her son, William Dodge of El Paso, Texas; and granddaughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Edwards of El Paso, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; brother, Bill Dye; sister, Almira Flint; and daughter-in-law, Terry Dodge.  A Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.  Burial will follow the gathering at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Memorials in Alice’s name may be gifted to Olbrich Gardens.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
