Evalyn Elizabeth Dedrick

FITCHBURG- Evalyn E. Dedrick, age 94, of Fitchburg, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at University Hospital. She was born on January 21, 1924, in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Harold and Nora (Robinson) Hofstetter. After high school, Evalyn attended St. Anthony's in Rock Island, IL, where she obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse. She served as a nurse in the U.S. Army for a few years before moving to Madison. Evalyn enjoyed her career as a Registered Nurse in general and private duty, and served as Director of Nursing for Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Evalyn was very active and had a great many interests. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, cooking and baking, bowling, golfing, skiing, and traveling. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House for 13 years, and an avid Packers fan. Evalyn was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. She is survived by two daughters, Anna Lorenz, and Diane Cook; her son, Lawrence (Laura); five grandsons, Mark (Marketa), Ronald (fiancée Michele and daughter Lilly), Robert Dedrick, Craig Lorenz, and Brett (Bryanna) Cook; her granddaughter, Claire (fiancé John Brown) Cook; her treasured great-grandson, Braydon Cook; and her sister, Mary Lou Taube. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Anita; and two brothers, Bob Hofstetter and Chuck Hofstetter. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, with Fr. Randy Timmerman presiding. Her final resting place will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
