Davison, Janice B.
MCFARLAND/MONONA-Janice B. Davison passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare, with her family by her side. She was born on Jan. 7, 1926, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Marion (Nichols) Barnes. After graduating from Morgan Park High School, Chicago, Jan attended Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich. Following college, Jan worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. as a service representative. She married Edward Davison on June 19, 1948 at the Morgan Park Baptist Church, Chicago. They were married for more than 65 years. Having five daughters, Jan was active with Girl Scouts, becoming one of their leaders. During the Girl Scouts cookie promotion, Jan talks about the truck backing into our driveway, turning our garage into a cookie warehouse. Jan was interested in genealogy and spent many years traveling and researching the Barnes family. This interest in genealogy gave Jan the opportunity to join the DAR, which requires extensive family history to join. For over twenty years, Jan was an active member of the Governor Nelson Dewey Chapter (Maple Bluff). During the years 1995-1997 and 2003-2005, Jan was Chapter Regent. Jan leaves her husband, Edward Davison; and an older sister, Frances (Blake) Hooper of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; daughters, Susan (Craig) Bellefeuille of DeForest, Wis.; twins, Joan (Steve) Cardarella of Madison and Jill Arps of Brookfield, Wis.; Ann Davison of Deerfield, Wis.; Jean Gindreau-Davison of Los Alamos, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014, at ST. STEPHEN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona, with the Rev. Nick Utphall and the Rev. Edward Johnson presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Governor Nelson Dewey Chapter (Daughters of the American Revolution), in care of Joan Cardarella, 3418 Marcy Road, Madison, WI 53704. I wish to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the Davison family. May your precious memories of your mother be foremost in your minds and hearts along with the words of Jesus found in John 5:28,29. So sorry for the passing of a great and wonderful woman...I met Jan over 20 years ago, through the DAR. We discussed our ancestors name..Barnes...never got around to closing in on our connection. She served her family, the DAR and the Scouts with enthusiasm and devotion. I will miss her very much.

We will all remember how kind Mrs. Davison was. She and Ed raised such beautiful and talented daughters. Mrs Davison was a sweet sole and will be missed by many. Jan is a great lady, I remember her when she was doing the Flag Ceremony in DAR. She wanted me to go so bad and take pictures she kept hounding me and I went of course. Who could say no to her. I will miss her a lot. Such a bright lady too.
