I met Bertie when she was the secretary at Sennet Middle School and I was the school nurse. As the school secretary at a challenging middle school Bertie kept order and kept each day running smoothly. She was a force! Bertie was one of my early quilting teachers and she taught me some important lessons that I will never forget. I will treasure memories of the incredible Quilt Shows at Ohlbrich Gardens that Bertie helped organize… years of Art Fair on the Square …bus trips to Paducah. My deepest condolences to the family. Carol, I always admired the special relationship you had with your Mom. May her memory be a blessing. Debbie Kaufman

We are so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing Carol. She was a dear friend of my mom’s for almost her entire life. Jean is now living in an assisted living apartment in Surprise a couple minutes from her house. She will be so sad to hear this. Best to you and the rest of her family. Bertie was my secretary at Sennett Middle School for 25 years. She was a an anchor, a facilitator, the one who kept the pot from boiling over. I have so many fond memories of her along with many quilted and crafted things she made. Visiting with her at the Art Fair was always something I looked forward to. My prayers and sincere sympathy go out to her family. She was a force of Nature and she will be missed. Pat Schiro
