Obituary
MADISON - Carol Conway, age 85, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024. She was born on Oct. 3, 1938, in Madison, the daughter of Mabel and Arthur Sauk and Ray Sauk.
Carol graduated from Madison East High School and UW Madison. She was united in marriage to Donald F. Conway on Sept. 4, 1965, at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Madison. Carol was pleased to be the first college graduate on both sides of the family but was more pleased and happier to be the mother of three children and grandmother of eight grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her three children, Margaret (Mike) Martin, Frank (Sharon) Conway and Dianne (Bob) Hesselbein; grandchildren, Melanie, Marnie, and Maddie Martin, Donald and Glenn Conway, William and Annika Edmundson, Katie Hesselbein, Megan (Mike) Chatman; sister, Dianne (Jim) Wylesky; brothers, Dave (Pat) Sauk and Mike Sauk; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Conway, on March 16, 2011; parents; grandson, Jonathon Edmundson; and sisters, Helen Ruth Sauk, Joanne Breese, Betty Porter and Mary Calo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024. A luncheon will follow. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024. Carol will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens next to her husband.
