Obituary

MANITOWOC, WI - Mary Beth Creydt, age 69, passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024, at Rivers Bend Nursing Home.  She was the fourth of five children born to Omer and Ardis (Mueller) Creydt in Beaver Dam, WI, on January 17, 1955.


Mary graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1973.  She attended UW-Oshkosh and transferred to Madison Area Technical College (MATC).  She earned an Associate Degree in Data Processing.  She worked for the State of Wisconsin and would spend most of her adult life in the Madison area.


Mary is survived by her siblings, Terry (Lydia) Creydt, Lynne Glinski, Joel Creydt and Cindy (Tony)

Brooks; nieces and nephews; and her “fur boy,” Henry. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Pam Creydt.


Throughout Mary’s school years at Nichols, Winnequah, Monona Grove High School and MATC, she was recognized with trophies, photographs and articles as a talented Girl’s Basketball athlete.


During her Senior High School year, the Creydt Family hosted an AFS student from Ethiopia, Africa, Tsedale Mihrete. Mary and Tsedale were “sisters,” sharing daily life together at home and at high school.


An animal lover at a young age, Mary grew up with pet dogs, Princess and then Daisy. As an adult, cats were Mary’s constant companions, especially her beloved Violet, then Kiera and Henry.


Mary had a love for music. Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks and the classical music of Charlotte Church were favorite artists.  


The Bible offered her comfort that contributed to physical ease and well-being.  She particularly loved Psalm 119, vs 105. “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”  With guidance and clarity, Jesus was by her side and at times, if needed, He offered to carry her or… put an Angel at her side.


The family thanks Heartland Hospice and Rivers Bend Nursing Home Facility for their care, support, empathy and for continued filling of the outside bird feeder in the view from Mary’s bedside window.


Christmas 2024 was truly a “Merry, Mary Christmas” … for our sister is with Jesus and the Angels; a destination she truly desired.  “May the light of heaven rest upon your face, and the peace of eternity rest upon your soul.” Love you Sister!


A family memorial and burial service is planned for June 2025 at Highland Memory Gardens in Madison, WI. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Mary was one of my favorite cousins! In elementary school we gleefully competed in athletic feats, and she usually won! Mary had an easy going personality which made her so fun to be with. I’m sorry I lost touch with her . Please know I am thinking of the Creydt family. Lori VanderVelde

Mary and I walked to school together in 7th and 8th grade. She was always so kind and a great listener. We also had record parties in her basement and sang and danced and laughed. A very fun friend. May she rest in peace.
