Obituary
MONONA–Wally L. Cleven, age 84, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Aster Memory Care. He was born on Dec. 30, 1932, in Madison, the son of Samuel and Viola (Kiefer) Cleven. He married Betty (Klade) Kreger in 1962. She preceded him in death in 2000. Wally attended Madison West High School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed with Oscar Mayer as a meat cutter until his retirement and also belonged to the Local No. 538 Meat Cutters Union. Wally was an avid fan of the Packers and Badgers and enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing and playing softball. He is survived by his sons, Dean and Gary Kreger; seven grandchildren, Jon (Trina) Kreger, Alisha (Glen) Neeley, Angela (Roger) Kleist, Valerie Kreger, Vicki Kreger, Brandon (Randee) Kreger Workman and Erin Kreger Workman; 10 great-grandchildren; and his guardian, Mary (Ken) Pronschinske and their children, Kaitlin Pronschinske and Matthew Pronschinske. In addition to his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Luella Kreger McGee; special friend, Marion Larsen Guethlein; sisters, Ann Hawkinson and Evelyn "Sis" Erickson; and brother, Lem Moore. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m., on Saturday, March 11, 2017, Father Joji Reddy Allam presiding. A luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service on Saturday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Heritage-Monona, Aster Memory Care of Cottage Grove and Agrace HospiceCare for their loving care of Wally. Knowing Wally years ago when My husband Lyle worked at Oscar Mayer and later the boys tipped a few beers together and we visited with him many times thru the years and also fishing tales were a big part for Wally and all who were in the conversation. I had visited with Wally many times When he was at Heritage Care / Another gal & I do visits once a month from our parish to people from our parish in facilities and spotted Wally and had short chats with him the last year .To the family of Wally.

I had the pleasure of being Wally and Bettys neighbor across the lagoon....we had many laughs together as a few brewskys. He was one of the funniest and pleasant neighbors that could be...miss our good times in Monona...RIP
