Obituary
MADISON - Jacquelyn June Cairns, age 96, passed away on June 27, 2024, following a short illness. Jackie, as everyone called her, was born on June 17, 1928, in Livingston, Wis. She married Donald M. Scullion on Oct. 8, 1947, in Platteville, Wis. She later married Calvin Cairns on Sep. 17, 1976, in Madison. Jackie lived in the city of Monona for most of her life. She was proud of working at Walgreens and retiring after 25 years of service. Her means of transportation to and from work was often a dune buggy, with no roof, rain or shine.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Lyborn Ray and Greta May Wells; husbands, Donald Scullion and Calvin Cairns; sons, Gerard and Michael J. Scullion; and siblings, Shirley Gleichauf , Donna Kreul and Allen Wells.
Jackie is survived by her life partner, John Reed, the two of them together for the last 14 years. We are so thankful they found each other. She is also survived by her sons, Dennis (Debbie) Scullion, Gene (Kathy) Scullion and Mark (Denise) Scullion; daughter in-law, Mary Scullion; grandchildren, Toreen T. (Logan) and Shane M. Scullion, Brandon (Megan) Scullion and Tyler Scullion; great-grandchildren (all Scullions): Cadence, Owen, Samson, Lena and Clark; and many nephews and nieces.
Jackie enjoyed swimming at the McFarland pool and dancing at Park Ponderosa, and she loved Elvis Presley.
A memorial service will be held at MCFARLAND UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 5710 Anthony St., McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
