Obituary

MADISON – Robert D. "Bob" Burmeister, age 89, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at Heritage Memory Care. He was born on Aug. 6, 1927, in Madison, the son of Mildred and Russell Burmeister. Bob graduated from Madison West High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After returning from the war he went on to work as a Lather. Bob was united in marriage to Betty Herheim at Trinity Lutheran Church on Aug. 12, 1948. He was a member of the Carpenters Union No. 314 for 65 years. Bob was also a founding member and Assistant Equipment Manager for the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corp, traveling with them often. Bob enjoyed baseball, bowling, playing golf and traveling. He loved and was very proud of his family. Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty; daughters, Vikki (Jerry) Kennedy and Sandi (Dave) Webster; son, John Burmeister (Susan); seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison, at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016. Visitation will be held at the church from 12 noon until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
