Maj-Britt Burling

MADISON - Maj-Britt Burling, age 92, of Monona, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Oak Park Place.

She was born on April 23, 1932, in Gothenburg (Göteborg) Sweden, the daughter of Karl Oskar Natanael Sandblom and Valda Elfrida (Frida) (Olsson) Sandblom.

Maj-Britt received a Swedish equivalent of high school diploma. She married Allan Burling on January 22, 1960, in New York. She resided in Monona, Wisconsin with her husband and two daughters for her entire life.

Maj-Britt was a stay-at-home mother and spent time drawing with her daughters.

Maj-Britt was immensely proud of her Swedish roots and kept her Swedish traditions alive in her home with her family, especially during the Christmas season. In her younger years, she loved sewing and crafting. She loved listening to music. Her favorite was classical. Maj-Britt loved dogs. She owned a Miniature Pincher, named Minnie.

She was a member of the Madison East YMCA for over 40 years, enjoying swimming, biking, and skiing. Maj-Britt was a charter member of the Vasa Lodge- Jabilevm #755 and even had the privilege of naming it. She enjoyed traveling back home to Sweden and Las Vegas to spend time with family, especially enjoying being out in nature while visiting her second daughter and granddaughter.

Maj-Britt is survived by her husband, Allan; daughters, Kajsa Burling and Kristin (Alan Paul) Burling-Castle; grandchild, Kaelani Queen; and great-grandchildren, Adalynn "Addie" and Isabella "Bella" Dawson.
