Arthur Brown

FITCHBURG-The Rev. A. Barton Brown, age 95, was born on July 14, 1921, in Mount View, New Brunswick, Canada, and passed away from this world on Dec. 2, 2016, in Fitchburg. Bart attended Gordon College in Wenham, Mass., and then Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago, graduating with a Bachelor in Divinity. He was ordained as an American Baptist Pastor and served churches in Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Florida. Bart was united in marriage with Margaret Lillian Webber on Sept. 24, 1945; they were married for 64 years before she passed away. He loved woodworking and enjoyed giving his handmade toys to children. Bart also enjoyed traveling, golf and taught himself piano, organ, and guitar. He has lived in Fitchburg for the past 17 years. Bart if survived by three sons, Stephen (Laurel), David (Ellen), Paul (Cyndie); one daughter, Rebecca Phillips; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Leon (Janice) of Nova Scotia. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; and brothers, Ivan and Arnold. A memorial service will be held at UPPER HOUSE, 365 University Ave., Madison, at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 9, 2016.
