Judith A. Blodgett

MADISON - Judith Ann Blodgett, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Meriter Hospital. She was born on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1940, in Columbus, Wis., to Harvey and Viola (Schulz) Austin.

Judi graduated from Columbus High School in 1958 and moved to Madison in 1960 for her job. Judi was married to Ronald Blodgett on October 29, 1966.
 

Judi worked several jobs including the State of Wisconsin MVD and Dairy Equipment Company before going to work for Drs. Larry Lantis and Thomas Kemp as an office assistant. They merged with Physicians Plus and she worked there as an office coordinator for them. They later joined UW Health where she was an Assistant Coder and retired from there in 2005.
 

Judi loved to travel and visited over 27 countries and all the United States. She was a member of the Friendship Force of Wisconsin and was leader of exchanges to England, Costa Rica, and Israel. She also enjoyed going on Disney cruises with her children and grandchildren, as well as many trips to Disney World. With her husband, they attended over 25 Daytona Speedweeks and races, as well as visiting many other racetracks around the country.
 

Judi also enjoyed playing Bridge and belonged to several groups. She also enjoyed playing Euchre with her family. When her girls were in Girl Scouts, she was a troop leader, delegate to Black Hawk Council, troop organizer and a district cookie person as well as a cookie pantry for troops that needed more cookies.
 

Judi was the family genealogist. She completed extensive research on three sides of her family, as well as locating many pictures which she put together in books for her daughters and on the internet. As a result of her research, she was able to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
 

Judi has been a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for over 50 years. She worked in their Food Pantry and was an usher. She also helped with fundraising for many mission trips her daughters and grandchildren took. She volunteered at the Brat Fest as a cart driver for many years, fundraising for Bethel Horizons Camp.
 

She is survived by her daughters, Julie (Jay) Blasé and Tina (Kevin) Metcalfe; grandchildren, Emily Kendall and Jordyn, Kian, and Lincoln Metcalfe; sister, Jan (Bob) Weber; brother, Harvey Austin; nieces, Jenny and Christi; nephew, Bill; foster son, Jerry (Robin) Kempfer; as well as many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; parents, Harvey and Viola Austin; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Austin; mother-in-law Frances Blodgett; and her dear friends, Sandra Jahn, Margaret Metcalfe and Jean Greenwood.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Tuesday November 25, 2025. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens following the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Tuesday.
