John Albert Blankenheim

MADISON - John Albert Blankenheim, age 92, of Madison, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021. He was born on May 3, 1929, in Madison, the son of Walter and Christine (Kessnich) Blankenheim. John graduated from Central High School in 1948 and attended Madison Area Technical College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John was united in marriage to Myrtle Runde on Sept. 14, 1957, in Sinsinawa, Wis. He worked as a shop foreman for Harker Heating, retiring in 1994 after 40 years of service. John was a member of Sheet Metal Union Local No. 18 and a longtime member of St. Dennis Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the great outdoors. John treasured the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandson. John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Myrtle; children, Steven (Sue) Blankenheim, Debra (Tim) Sarbacker, Robert (Tammy) Blankenheim and Christine (Mark) Remus; grandchildren, Emily, Courtney (Sam), Joe, Paul, Allison, Elizabeth, Katie, Catelyn and Jane; great-grandson, Walter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Adeline (Thomas) Austin, Eva ("Bud") Kahl, Catherine (Bill) Williams and Ida (Roger) Schumacher; and brothers, Henry (Ione) Blankenheim, Robert Blankenheim and Darwin (Rosie) Blankenheim. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
