Obituary
COTTAGE GROVE - Norman Bernhardt Anacker, age 95, of Cottage Grove, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, under Agrace HospiceCare’s excellent care. Born in Portage, Wis., he was the son of Leonard and Alice Anacker.
Norman graduated from DeForest High School. He met Janet at a dance at Turner Hall, in Madison, married in 1950, and enjoyed 68 years together until Janet passed. Together they raised nine children on their farm in Columbia County.
A farmer from boyhood, Norman took pleasure in caring for animals and shared his knowledge and love of rural life with his children. As a family they enjoyed playing volleyball in the yard and traveling the country on vacations in their renovated school bus.
Norman and Janet retained their love of dance as members of Westport Squares. Members of St. Patrick Parish in Cottage Grove, they previously belonged to St. Joseph Parish, East Bristol, and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Norman is survived by five sons, Robert (Bonnie), Ron (Roberta), Chris (Carol), Ben and Jerry (Dawn) Anacker; and four daughters, Kathy, Karen (Michael) Wohlers, Theresa (Glen) Wohlers and Judy Anacker; and many grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; his parents; brother, Marvin; and sister, Marion Farnsworth.
A visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022.
