Lorraine Edna Aldahl

ONALASKA/MADISON- Lorraine E. Aldahl, age 97, formerly a longtime resident of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. She was born on May 9, 1921, in Meriden, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Mollie (Sexter) Nelson. Lorraine was united in marriage to Kermit Aldahl on April 10, 1947, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Owatonna, Minn. Together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Kermit preceded her in death on March 25, 1991. Lorraine resided in Madison for over 50 years, spending the last several years in Onalaska to be closer to her family. Lorraine enjoyed cooking for her family, there was always good food and a clean home waiting for them. She always put her family’s needs before her own. Some said her potato salad was the best they ever ate. In addition to being a homemaker, she assisted her husband in running his plumbing business, which was in operation for 18 years in Madison. Lorraine greatly enjoyed her many friends in the TOPS club and card clubs she was a member of, while residing in Madison. Lorraine is survived by her son, Steve (Sharon) Aldahl of Onalaska; grandsons, David of Minneapolis, Minn. and Phillip (Jenna) of Holmen, Wis., and their son, Bryce; daughter-in-law, Kathy Walch of Madison; sister, Lois Oeltjenburns of Owatonna, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded on death by her son, Kenneth; brother, Lowell; sisters, Mildred, Shirley, Leona and Hazel; sisters-in-law, Harriet Nelson and Dorothy Nelson; and brothers-in-law, Orville Flom, Bob Bowman, Walter Oeltjenburns and Jim Nelson. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m., on Friday, July 13, 2018. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, with a luncheon to follow at the funeral home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Lorraine was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 322 East Washington Ave., Madison, WI 53703 or to the charity closest to your heart.
