MADISON-Donald M. “Don” Anderson, age 79, of Madison, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on March 21, 1938, in Porter Township, Rock County, the son of Milo and Alva (Sturdevant) Anderson. Don worked for the Walgreens Company for 25 years, retiring in 2003. He then worked for the City of Madison as a school crossing guard. Don enjoyed golfing and watching baseball and football, his favorite team was the Minnesota Vikings. Don is survived by his sister, Karen Balis; two nephews, Marc (Stephanie) Balis and Glen (Kae) Balis; three nieces, Lita (Kent) Falligant, LaVonne (Doug) Hatlen and Cindy (Al) Guth; two great-nephews, Nick and Tanner; great-nieces, Meg (who was like an “angel” to Uncle Don), Carrie, Amy, Erin and Nicole; and great-nephew, Dalynn. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Doris; sister, Doris; and beloved daughter, Marci Rae Anderson on July 10, 1963. A graveside service will be held at MT. HOPE CEMETERY, 204 Church St., Brooklyn, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I feel honored to have had you a part of our Country Meadows family for over 30 years. I already miss our weekly coffee chats and will forever carry on the tradition of pumpkin donuts in fall, Valentines in February and occasional Saturday mornings at the Casino! Don, I miss your weekly visits coming to see us girls!! I'll never forget that sparkle in your eye when you would walk in after a day at the Casino and we would know that you had won by the smirk on your face. I remember how you felt when those little ones didn't have any boots or mittens going back and forth to school. Such a kindhearted and caring man. There were so many good times in Brooklyn when our families were snowmobiling or just hanging out together. And then we got to share lots of laughs and fun times with Don and his coworkers from 7up at Vitale's Lounge on the south side of Madison, and later at Dalton's 77. Sad that I will not be able to make the service, but my thoughts will be with him on that day. I know there is another special angel in God's arms now. Rest in Peace, Don.
