Obituary
OREGON/ FRIENDSHIP - Charles Richard Anderson, age 88, of Oregon, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Sienna Crest Assisted Living. He was born on Aug. 29, 1928, in Highland, the son of Carl and Stella (Enger) Anderson. Charles married Patricia M. Turner on June 7, 1953, in Richland Center. He grew up on the family farm in Highland, where he enjoyed riding Indian & Harley motorcycles. Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Army in January of 1951 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War as a tank mechanic/instructor until December 1952. After marrying Patty, the couple lived on the family farm and later moved to Madison, where Charles worked for Nagle-Hart for 32 years as a diesel mechanic. In 1990, Charlie put his diesel tools away and he and Patty moved to their woodland home in Friendship. Charlie lost his bride in 1994. At the age of 70, Charles considered those memories from his youth and bought himself a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and hit the road. He made numerous road trips, either by himself, with his son or with friends, putting on 103,000 miles by the age of 80. Charlie enjoyed hunting, old-time country music, riding his Harley, traveling, living with nature in his wooded retreat, visiting with family and friends, and lunch at Culver's. Charles is survived by his two children, son, Carl L. Anderson; and daughter, Cynthia (Bernard, Jr.) Peterson; two granddaughters, Erin (Adam) and Annie; three great granddaughters; sister-in-law, Wanda Anderson; Nieces, Denise (Larry) Rudersdorf, Doreen (Jason) Fehlauer, Pam Schmidt; Nephews, James Wylie, David (Angela) Wylie, Dan Anderson, John Anderson, and the Johanning boys- Jerome, Eric, Roger, Kirk, and Brian along with many other relatives and friends.
