MADISON / FITCHBURG - Janet M. (Ehlenfeldt) Almond, age 74, of Fitchburg, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital.
Janet graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1969. She was the owner and operator of Gypsy Travelin’ Market and was a long-time vendor at local farmer’s markets.
A celebration of life will be held at UNITY OF MADISON, 601 Tomkins Drive, Madison, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com

I knew Janet "Jae" for 38 years and she was a true friend. Very kind, thoughtful and a great listener. After I moved from Madison, we would spend hours on the phone and time would pass by so quickly. She was supportive of me through both the good and the difficult times in my life. I miss her very much. She enjoyed nature and handcrafting items. Both my mom and I especially like her colorful fabric catnip mice. My condolences to her friends and family.

I am so sorry to hear this. She and Bob visited us once or twice, we talked on the phone, she and I did the Harry Potter Fest in Janesville together. She was a nice person.

I am very sorry to hear of Jae's passing. I was a fellow vendor and friend with her at the farmers market on the square. We had many lively conversations about farmers market politics. We agreed on many issues. Jae was always interested with ideas that she felt would improve the farmers market.
I will miss her. She was a good and caring person.
