Obituary

MADISON - Patricia J. Thielbar, age 89, died on Friday, June 6, 2025. She was born October 30, 1935, in Marshall, Minn.

Patricia’s relationship with God was significant as she was a devout Christian and exemplified it in how she lived. Being a long-time member of the congregation at Covenant Presbyterian Church was a very important part of her life. She acquired many friendships and received much needed support from her fellow parishioners in recent years.

Patricia lived most of her life in Madison, previously residing in Minnesota and Washington. In Madison she worked at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in radiotherapy and then for

Wisconsin Life Insurance, which became Central Life Insurance, which eventually became Humana Insurance, where she retired in 2004.

Having been an avid reader, she spent much of her time doing so. She was a member of many social groups including The Red Hat Society and was also a member of Silver Sneakers, as she was a dedicated walker.

Patricia is survived by her sons, David S. Thielbar and Mark J. (Lee-Anndra) Thielbar; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Thielbar and Emily K. Thielbar; sister, Virginia Paradis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Anders Christian and Margrethe (Jensen) Andersen; parents, Elly Juliane (Andersen) and Clarence Earl Petersen; brother, Clarence “Junior” Petersen; daughter, Karen L. Thielbar; and brother-in-law, Percy Paradis.

A celebration of life will be held at COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 326 S. Segoe Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, with Rev. Dr. Charlie Berthoud presiding with refreshments to follow. Inurnment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Sincere Sympathy at the loss of Pat. I also worked at Human, knew of her and was blessed with her friendship. She was known for calling someone's work phone and leaving a message - of her singing "Happy Birthday." A delightful lady. Such a void.

I used to work with Pat at UW Radiation Therapy. I have so many wonderful daily memories - none of which newsworthy ;-) but all bring smiles to my face. We lost touch over the years unfortunately. The last time we were together was for a dinner party she hosted for several of us - 20+ years ago. I have thought of her often and regret not reaching out. My deepest sympathies to her sons and families. She was a kind soul and I'm so happy to have shared those years working together.
