Coletta C. Wagner

MIDDLETON - Coletta C. Wagner, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Cardinal View Senior Living in Middleton. She was born November 2, 1935, to Joe and Ida (Haag) Esser.

Coletta graduated from Mt. Horeb High School and later married her husband, Robert Wagner, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, on April 12, 1955. Together they farmed Robert's family farm in Ashton while raising five children. She enjoyed gardening and canning, always making an abundance of tomato and grape juice for Bob and the family. In 1999 they moved to Middleton where she worked for Certegy Card Services and volunteered at Middleton Senior Center. She was an accomplished sewer and quilter, making each grandchild a quilt. She loved to play cards and was always ready for a good game of double deck euchre. Coletta would spend hours putting a jigsaw puzzle together or working on a crossword puzzle. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Coletta missed her husband, Robert, every day, who passed away in 2024.

Coletta is survived by her children, Linda Hellenbrand (Mitch), Larry (special friend, Kristin), Nancy Laufenberg (John), Gary (Jessica) and Roger (Michelle); grandchildren, Heather (Torey) Carpenter, Kayla (Jordan) Kopp, Kelli (Blair) Markowski, Haley Laufenberg, Wyatt Wagner, Lukas (Whitney) Wagner, Craig (Megan Collins) Wagner, Ben Wagner, Cody Wagner, Brandon (Sarah) Wagner and Dakota (Asiana Brown) Wagner: great-grandchildren, Grace, Lilian, Everett, William, Owen, Miles, Collins and Willow; siblings, Doris Zweifel, Eugene Esser and Jim (Esther) Esser; and in-laws, Delores Esser, Evie Wagner, Helen Frey, Irene and Fritz Bindl.

Coletta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; grandson, Steven Hellenbrand; siblings, Frances Garfoot, Joanne Doherty and Philip Esser; and in-laws, Earl Garfoot, Joe Doherty, Delmer Zweifel, Marge Esser, Earl Maier, LaVerne Frey, Stanley Wagner, Delores and Ann Wagner, and Father Donald Wagner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7121 County Road K, Ashton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, followed by burial at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Wednesday. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held at DORF HAUS SUPPER CLUB, 8931 Highway Y, Sauk City. All are welcome to attend.

The family is grateful for the support and care given by the staff at Cardinal View Senior Living. A special thank you to Coletta's nurse, Abbey Maier, and caregiver, Dominique Taylor, of Brighton Hospice who went above and beyond with kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Brighton Hospice.
