Obituary
MIDDLETON - Robert Adrian Morrick, age 94, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at his home in Richland Center, Wis. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a devout Christian who always put his family first.
Bob was born on July 27, 1929, in Madison, Wis., the second son of Glenn and MaryAnn (Jones) Morrick Sr.
Bob grew up in Madison and moved to the Three Lakes area with his family where he attended high school in both Three Lakes and Rhinelander. After high school, Bob entered the U.S. Navy where he served for two years. After the Navy, he moved back to Madison where he met the love of his life, Joan Hanson. He began his 35-year career as a meat cutter for Oscar Mayer, eventually settling in Middleton.
Bob and Joan were united in marriage on Aug. 25, 1951. They were happily married for almost 72 years and from this union they were blessed with eight children.
Whether Bob was working or playing, he loved spending time outdoors. He could often be found hunting for deer or turkey with his gun, bow, or cross bow in tow. He loved camping and traveling in his motor home, and enjoyed canoeing. He and Joan enriched their retired lives by taking up cross country skiing and square dancing with the Westport Squares. Weekends were spent cheering for the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers, smoking his pipe, gardening, and chopping wood.
One of Bob's favorite pastimes was tinkering and trying to fix or improve anything that was broken. Ever the inventor, he eventually patented an automotive filter aid.
His lifelong dream was to own a farm where he could enjoy his hobbies, interests, and spending time with his family. That dream became a reality in 1997 when he and Joan purchased their farm in Richland County where they spent many happy days together with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his sister, Darcy Vosberg; children, Steve (Elsa) Morrick, Terri (Ken) Curt, Bill Morrick, Don Morrick and Jody (Randy) Van Tassel; grandchildren, Derek Morrick, Amanda Morrick, Branton (Monica) Curt, Toree Morrick, Alyssa Curt, Kaitlin Morrick, Bianca Bakkar, André Bakkar and Sebastian Van Tassel; and great-grandchildren, Jonah Lander, Olivia Lander, Skye Curt and baby Curt (on the way).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Morrick; parents, Glenn and MaryAnn; brothers, Wallace and Glenn Jr.; daughters, Michelle, Tammy and Lisa Morrick; grandsons, Justin Curt and Adam Bakkar; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Morrick and Elaine Morrick; and brothers-in-law, Bernie Fedor and Gene Vosberg.
A graveside service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, with Pastor Scott presiding. Visitation will follow at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday.
