CROSS PLAINS - The world has lost a kind and loving soul with the passing of Linda Jean (Skuhra) Kotoski.

Linda, the youngest of three sisters, was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Betty) Skuhra on December 10, 1950. She attended the Green Bay Public Schools where she played the oboe and bells in the West High School band. She also swam on the YMCA swim team and spent oodles of time at Fisk Park pool lifeguarding and teaching swimming.

After graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Linda delighted in teaching elementary and middle school students for over 30 years.

On January 8, 1994, she married James “Jim” Kotoski with whom she enjoyed the outdoors: sailing, skiing, and hiking. Linda and Jim participated in the creation of Spring Harbor, an environmental magnet middle school in Madison where she and Jim taught and where Linda got her start (and finish) as a director of musicals.  Linda was a life-long Packers fan which brought occasional conflict with Minnesota born husband Jim.

In 2005 Linda retired from teaching and enjoyed traveling with Jim in their RV, spending summers in their cabin near Spooner, Wisconsin, and winters in their home in Bradenton, Florida.

Linda loved spending time with friends and family-her Green Bay friends, her Poker group, her JBB group and her sister outings-and singing in the choir at First Unitarian-with which she traveled to Finland, Russia, and Romania- and the choir in Bradenton.

Linda is survived by her husband, James Kotoski of Cross Plains; her sister, Judith (Fred) Whitemarsh of Madison; her sister-in-law, Susan (James) Tobin; and brothers-in law Donald, (Joleen) Kotoski, Richard (Kathleen) Kotoski, and Phillip (Gail) Kotoski; and fifteen nieces and nephews; as well as numerous grandnieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Nancy; and brother-in-law, Thomas Wood.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the FIRST UNITARIAN SOCIETY, 900 University Bay Drive, Madison, WI 53705. A visitation is scheduled at 1 p.m. at the church until the time of service. A luncheon will be served at the church after the service. Due to Covid-19 masks and vaccinations are required. The service can also be followed via live-stream at <https://youtu.be/BptoVkb568w>.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Linda to Agrace HospiceCare https://www.agrace.org/donate/donate-today/. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Jim, I am so sorry to learn of Linda's passing. She was a lovey person and I appreciated all she gave to her students and Madison families. Her love of learning and teaching certainly was given to my family. It was a privilege to know her as a parent and co-worker at Toki Middle School. May you and your families have all you need during this time of loss and the memories bring peace and blessings. My Fondest Regards, Martha Main
