Obituary
MADISON - John Edward Fuchsteiner, 80, of Madison, Wis., passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025.
John was born in La Crosse, Wis., in 1945 to Barbara Susan Fuchsteiner (Hammes) and Joseph John Fuchsteiner. John attended Blessed Sacrament and Aquinas High School before obtaining his Bachelors in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He spent his career in corporate purchasing that took him to Oklahoma, Texas, and Ohio before returning to Wisconsin in 2005.
John was a child of the ‘60s and was always free-spirited, vocal about his beliefs, and uniquely himself. Influenced by the novel Siddhartha, he valued people and experiences over material possessions. He was a lover of art and culture, nature and plant life, and music. In his later years, he enjoyed attending organ concerts at the Madison Overture Center for the Arts.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph; his brother-in-law, Rick; and his nephew, Paul. He is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Barbara (Richard) Roberts, Mary Stevens and Peter (Anne) Fuchsteiner; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Fuchsteiner; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
A memorial service will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, Wis., at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025. A visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
