I remember when growing up going to Franks Market with my Mom and Rollie always made time to talk with us. He was a great man with great knowledge. When I went into the Air Force I listed him as one of my Mentors. I am so glad I got to write him a letter to let him know the impact he had on my life. I will miss you my friend.

I always loved Uncle Rollie's friendly, engaging smile, and his eagerness to hear and share family updates. One of my favorite memories was the time I asked him to divulge the secret family recipe for summer sausage at Frank's Market. After he explained there wasn't an exact recipe, and that Grandpa Frank kind of ad-libbed parts of it, I made the mistake of quoting Otto von Bismarck's quotation about making laws and sausages: "If you like laws and sausages, you should never watch either one being made." Uncle Rollie went silent. The famous smile disappeared. He paused and said something like: "You know, we took a lot of pride in using only the best meats in our sausage. We didn't throw in just anything. It was a careful process." Something told me he'd heard that Bismarck quote way too many times in his life. He was a great man, and he always put his family first. I'll miss his stories, his smile and his great sense of humor. He left his mark.

A great compassionite man and life coach. He will be missed. He was always concerned about my illness and never ever about himself. God got another angel from this earth for sure. Rollie, I will be heading your way soon enough I know, help convince St Peter to let me in. RIP my dear friend. Bob Hope put it so well, he sang Thanks for the memories and that represents my thoughts as well. Roy Rogers says Happy Trails to you until we meet again. Happt Trails to you Rollie, until we meet again.

What a great man I could write a a book of short stories about Rollie and the ones with my Dad in it might get a little longer ! He could talk to anyone about anything. He would come out to Crossroads Coffee ☕️ shop we would learn so much about Cross Plains history, very much a family man he will be missed . Thoughts and prayers to the Frank family

Janet and I moved to Cross Plains during the famous ice storm in March, 1976. We shopped at Frank's Market during our 11 years there. We came to know Rollie and Helene, developed a friendship, and relished our occasional visits and shared dinners. Helene provided piano lessons to our daughter, Emily. Rollie sold our Cross Plains house and bought our Middleton house. We have a lovely (and very sturdy) cherry storage bench built by Rollie in 1992, that still has a few more centuries in it. Though we have had few contacts over the recent years, I value the time we shared and felt privileged to call Rollie and Helene friends.
