Obituary
MADISON-Arlene Elizabeth Finley, age 82, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on April 2, 1936, in Madison, the daughter of Irving and Ethel (McCaughey) Arnold. Arlene graduated from Madison East High School. She married Robert Finley on Sept. 1, 1956. She went on to receive her B.S. Degree in Nursing from UW Madison, graduating with high honors in 1975. Arlene practiced Nursing at Madison General Hospital and later taught psychiatric nursing there at the School of Nursing. She went on to practice as a Graduate Nurse at Dane County Public Health until she retired in 1993. Arlene was adventurous and loved to travel the world, especially to Europe with family and all the amazing people she met through the Madison Diocesan Festival Choir. She loved dogs, and enjoyed genealogy research, dancing, snowmobiling, camping and attending rallies in their Airstream camper. Arlene loved to play the organ and embraced her family’s heritage through Irish music. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved to spend winters and holidays with her grandchildren. Arlene is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Michael and Casey (Joan); grandson, Brogan; granddaughter, Katerina; and many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Joyce Kennedy and Fern Arnold; and brothers, Glenn Arnold, Rodney "Bob" Arnold and Claire "Tubby" Arnold. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 7pm, on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, with Father Gerard Healy presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Burial will take place at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Janesville. Special thanks to Father Gerard Healy, Pat Arnold, Bob Arnold, Maureen McDermott, Mary Ellen Schlough and all the good people at Agrace HospiceCare for all of their care and support during her illness.
