Obituary
MIDDLETON-“Maggie” A. Dohm, age 91, passed away at home on Saturday, May 19, 2018 surrounded by family. She was born in Colorado Springs, CO., in 1926 to Jerome and Frances (Roden) Kovarik. She graduated in 1947 from St. Joseph School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in the Cadet Nurse Corps. Maggie retired from St. Mary’s Hospital, where she worked as an OR nurse. While in nursing school, she met and married Gerard F. Dohm. They settled in the Madison area; where they raised their family of nine children. Maggie was an active member of the Catholic Church community, most recently at St. Bernard’s in Middleton. She had a beautiful singing voice; and spent years touring worldwide with the Madison Diocesan Choir. As a member of Friendship Force International for over 40 years, she visited countries across the globe. She stayed with host families while traveling, and she in turn hosted many international guests in her home. She loved sharing photos, collectibles and stories from her travels with friends and family. She was active in her community, serving as Alder on the Middleton City Council and boards of directors for numerous other organizations. She was a long time member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Service Sorority, participating in many generous acts of community service. Maggie leaves behind many loved ones. Survivors include her children, Richard (Pamela) Dohm, Steven (Kristin) Dohm, Christine (Ray) Mayer, Lou Ann Newby, John Dohm, Kelli (Carl) Kreienkamp, Susan Kiesling, Lawrence (Sharon) Dohm and Timothy (Melody) Dohm; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Cook and Moira (Gilbert) Pantae; many dear in-laws; and countless relatives and friends around the world. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., on May 25, 2018 at 11:00am with Father Brian Wilk presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 5-7pm at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave, Middleton as well as Friday at the church from 9:30am until the time of Mass . In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Maggie was a kind, wonderful woman who will be missed every day. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I had the pleasure of making music with Maggie for a number of years back in the late 70's and early 80's. We created some special memories and always had some laughter sprinkled in with our music group practices and performances. She was kind, genuine, and a pleasure to know. My condolences to her family and many other friends. She made her mark in many ways - a measure of a life well lived.

When my husband joined the St. Bernard's Choir in the 70's he came home and told me about this amazing woman who had many children and looked wonderful. I later got to know your mom and learned of her work with the friendship force.

To the family of Maggie... I am so deeply sorry for your loss. What a beautiful and wonderful lady she was. She sang in my choir at st Peters for several years and I just loved her so much. She was always fun to have around and she was always very kind to me. I would get letters from her and Christmas cards too up until just a couple years ago. She loved being a member of the diocesan choir and I remember how proud she was being a part of the friendship force. She spoke of that so often. I will miss her beautiful smile and I am so glad she touched my life. May she rest in peace. Truly an angel in heaven now. God bless you all.
