Obituary

MIDDLETON - Marian Elaine Barr, age 94, of Middleton, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Sage Meadow Memory Care. She was born on February 20, 1930, in Cedarville, Ill., the daughter of Walter and Vivian (Shippy) Reuber.


Marian graduated from Dakota High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Robert Barr on June 1, 1948, in Dakota, Ill. She enjoyed sewing, baking, cake decorating, fishing and camping and volunteering at church.


Marian is survived by her son, James Robert (Linda) Barr; daughters, Julie Ann (John) Corstvet and Marcia Lynn Barr; grandchildren, Dan (Jennifer) Barr, Becky (Dan) Currier, Cristy (Joel) Hansen and Debbie Corstvet; great-grandchildren, Blake, Wyatt and Lakyn Barr, Annie and Dane Hansen and Ashley and Danny Currier; brother, Merle (Lois) Reuber; sister-in-law, Lucille Alden; and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Barr; siblings, Theora (Harry) DeGroff, Doris (Sam) Meinert, Robert (Lillian) Reuber, Lyle Reuber and Lois Meier; sisters-in-law, Helen Alden and Pauline Fazio; and brothers-in-law, Harry Barr and Charles Barr.


Special thanks to the Agrace HospiceCare and Sage Meadow Assisted Living and Memory Care staff for the care they gave Marian.


A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025. Burial will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

To think we have known Marian for 50+years. One word that describes Marian is the word Constant- She never changed! Marian modeled to me what it means to be a SERVANT. She was always working at church or helping someone in need! And she would never ever take the credit. In her own quiet way, she served the Lord. Every Christmas, I think of her and miss the peanut brittle and fudge she would come and deliver to our door. There is no doubt the Lord said: “ Well, done thou good and faithful SERVANT.” Love Mike and Monica
