Obituary
DEFOREST - Leroy J. Schamburek, age 92, of DeForest, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at UW Health East Madison Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Barb Malin of DeForest, WI. He was born on August 22, 1932, in Whitelaw, WI., the son of the late John and Grace (Popelar) Schamburek.
After graduating in 1950 from Valders High School, Valders, WI., he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served at the U.S. Army Hospital at Kyushu Island, Japan from 1952 through 1954.
Leroy married Bernice Novak on June 23, 1956, in Kewaunee, WI., and together resided in Manitowoc, WI., San Antonio, Texas and DeForest, WI. She preceded him in death in 2015.
He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years until retiring.
On June 9, 2018, he married Barb Malin in Lodi, WI.
Leroy enjoyed watching Wisconsin sports including the Badgers, Packers and Brewers, listening to “Big Band, Polka, and Country” music, being outdoors enjoying nature and traveling throughout the country with his family.
Leroy lived by his faith. His kindness, dedication and gentle humor touched many lives.
In addition to his wife Barbara; survivors include his two sons, Bruce (Nancy) and Mark (Nichapon) Schamburek; his three daughters, Cheryl (Tom) Anthony, Renee (Rick) Tweed and Beth Chadwick; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Jim and Tom (Shelly) Malin; six step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; his brother, Roger (Carole) Schamburek; his sister, Dorothy (Barney) McCulley; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother Paul.
Visitation will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe Pastorate at St. Patrick’s Church 521 Fair St., Lodi, WI beginning at 10 am on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in the Church Gathering Space. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am, with Father Anthony Kersting presiding. Entombment Service will be at 11 am on Friday, March 28 at Calvary Cemetery Chapel 2601 S. 14th St., Manitowoc, WI.
