Obituary

MADISON - Judy Ann Dobratz-Lesch, age 77, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Brighter Life Living. She was born on November 9, 1948, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Howard and Marion (Manke) Dobratz.


Judy’s very first best friend was her sister, Joan. As a little girl, she would walk hand in hand with Joan, asking endless questions and eagerly learning a new word each day. She loved being outdoors, and playing in the snow brought her pure joy. Joan even taught her how to use her own small snow shovel, creating memories the two of them cherished.


Upon graduating from Poynette High School, Judy worked as a file clerk for the State of Wisconsin. Judy loved the Lord and was a member of East Side Lutheran Church.


Judy is survived by her sister, Joan (Dobratz) Anttonen; daughter, Ellie Wietholter; niece, Dr. Laura (Dr. David Dungan) Anttonen Dungan; niece, Karen K. (Terry) Taylor; great-nieces, Lauren (Marc) Dunbar and Amanda (Denis) Ogiyenko; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Dobratz and James Dobratz; brother-in-law, Jack Anttonen; and nephew, Scott Dobratz.


A private family burial will be held.

Judy was such a sweet lady. I was a member of her care team at PACT for 15 years. I still have a pair of earrings that I purchased from her catalog sales. RIP Judy.
