It has been many years since we were next door neighbor's, but I remember Gene very well. Jean and family - I am very sorry for your loss. May your many memories of him sustain you at this difficult time. He was a great role model to his family. I remember him as a great father and kind man.
My Mom lives at Heritage Monona also, in the independent living side. She is turning 95 next month. Wish I had known he was there and as I would have loved to have visited him. I always enjoyed talking with him very much.
With deepest sympathy,

I am so grateful for what Gene and Jean did for me, letting me into their home and the family Holzmann in 1981 when I was an exchange student in McFarland. It has given me many sweet memories and a really true friendship ever since. Gene was a very nice and generous father that I truly miss. I send my deepest sympathy to Jean, my American sisters and brothers and all their kids and grand children. Love from Sweden, Pelle
